Implementation of an Automated Guided Vehicle dispatching and scheduling framework using robust optimisation

Abstract

Technologies used in automated container terminals, largely borrowed from other industrial domains, progressed rapidly after their initial implementations by European port operators, but still fail to cater for the unpredictability of such a dynamic environment, thus rendering operation scheduling a challenging task. We implement a robust scheduling algorithm that uses intervals for key parameters and looks for solutions that minimise maximum regret with respect to their particular realisations.
